Percussion Sequence (2012)

Percussion Sequence takes as it’s starting point, a group of forged Neolithic tools. Stone Axes (Group II) is a series of recently made objects demonstrating varying degrees of skill and accuracy in the process of remaking replicas, bringing questions of provenance and credibility to the forefront.
For ASC Window Space, the axes are put into the hands of an anonymous instructor. Within these images Group II are used as props for re-enactment. The accompanying material attempts to frame our perception of the objects through demonstrating a precise percussion technique. Through remaking and restaging archaeological material, the work questions how the meaning and authenticity of objects can be constructed within a pseudo-didactic display.
