We are thrilled to present a solo exhibition featuring recent multi-media works by artist Margaret Kerfoot.
Rooted in a life-long relationship with the natural landscape, Margaret’s artistic journey began in the Pennine hills, where she spent her childhood absorbing the textures and forms of her environment. After graduating from the Manchester College of Art in 1970, she built a diverse life in the North, working as a postwoman, factory worker, carpenter, bicycle mechanic, and building surveyor. Each of these trades, along with her recent experience sketching fighters at London Community Boxing, has deeply influenced her perspective and practice.
Her latest collection focuses on minimal expressions through line, mark-making, and shape. Utilising multi-media techniques, including paper-mâché, thread, and paint, the work explores the interplay between positive and negative space, stretching the boundaries between abstract and figurative forms. Alongside her recent individual experiments with three-dimensional landscape structures, Margaret also continues an ongoing painting collaboration with artist Alison Shipton.
All are welcome to join us for the Private View to celebrate Margaret’s latest work and discuss her ongoing exploration of form and space.
