Alessandra Bettolo is an architect, designer, painter. Her passion, interest and skills cross over disciplines to include architecture, interior architecture, product design, visual design and painting. Trained in Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan, Alessandra also holds an MA in Visual Design from the Scuola Politecnica di Design (SPD) in Milan and a diploma in Contemporary Portraiture from The Art Academy in London. Originally from Milan, Alessandra has also lived in Johannesburg, New York, Kuala Lumpur and now London and counts herself a local in each of these cities. In her work she uses the experience of her nomadic lifestyle across four continents and the synergy between her life as a woman, mother, wife, architect and artist. Influenced by shapes, figures, symbolism, she portrays under represented people to challenge discrimination and stereotypes in contemporary society and to claim their place as protagonists in the western history of portraiture. Alessandra, as architect and artist, has exhibited in London, Milan, New York. Kuala Lumpur and Albuquerque New Mexico. She was preselected for the Royal Society of Portrait Painters exhibition 2018 and SWA Society of Women Artists annual exhibition 2019 and shortlisted for the Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize 2019. She is a founding member of the artist collective LondonCP8. Alessandra aspires to make portraits without social boundaries or geographic borders. To see more of her work instagram @alessandrabettolo
