Mark Walter lives and work in London as a full time artist and he is also a qualified horticulturalist.
He also teaches art which includes drawing, painting and sculpture.

His work has evolved from initially investigating environmental issues, towards a critical view of social, political and cultural issues. Each project consists of multiple works, in a range of different media, grouped around specific themes and meanings. During research and production, new areas of interest arise and lead to the next body of work.

His use of natural materials initially stemmed from his previous horticultural career, and he has developed this into a material language that incorporates oils, watercolours, and graphite, along with earth, PVA, plaster and clay.

His work is Influenced by artists as diverse as Anselm Kiefer, Cornelia Parker, and Mark Dion, it is important for his practice that he is not restricted to any one material. He is never without a sketchbook, and the focused process of drawing is integral to his practice.
