Kate Marsden

Kate Marsden is a West Sussex born/London based artist, with a background in Fashion & Textile Design and Surface Pattern Design.

Her paintings, drawings, prints and textile pieces are the result of many years of experimentation alongside her more graphic, illustrative design based work. Kate paints everyday items and objects, and is increasingly inspired by thoughts, emotions and childhood, combining figurative and abstract imagery. A desire to alter the viewer’s perception of her subject matter has long been her desired outcome, whether this be via the subversion of a traditional subject, or the beautification of something considered to be ugly or undesirable.
Kate’s work can be seen in private collections as well as commercial commissions including at the refurbished South London arts centre, Fairfield Halls. Kate’s work has recently been exhibited in a range of shows with ArtCan, Carshalton Artists and Oaks Park Artists, and she is a member of the Oaks Park Printmakers Group.  Kate is also a member of ArtCan, Sprout Arts and Spilt Milk. She is an active member of Carshalton Artists and teaches printmaking and other art and textiles based classes.
