Linda Himbert

My work deals with environmental issues as well as social and reflective interactivity in space. My paintings, sound installations and composed soundscapes derive inspirations from astrophysics, environmental sustainability, international abstract paintings and multi channel traditions in music.

My paintings and photographs suggest complex networks of metaphysics, molecular structures, emphasis on punctuation, repetition and colour sensitivity. My abstract paintings suggest also the economy of paint application where sometimes figurative associations emerge and recede.

I really like the idea of a universal language, being able to transcend everything so that everybody can connect with it. Both in the visual and aural realms. As the sounds of the whales that travel round the globe but often fall on deaf ears and blind eyes.

In my work I dream to awaken your ears and eyes to hear and see what can not easily be understood or grasped. For me my own hybridised (and mostly singular) sense of abstraction is a distinctly unique personal experience, one that is performative as well as experiential.

The one that is at the same the many.

In my life -sound and fine art has been a constant presence that is never here (hear). Through feeling, seeing and hearing we can bring the present closer.

All my paintings include recycled materials. My soundscape are composed of concrete sounds, found sound objects and voice recordings. It is in sound and sight where the Earth becomes subjective and the unique individual becomes earthed.

So let’s celebrate that impossible juncture – that me that is made of Earth.
