Lotty Adam
Lotty is an abstract expressionist artist working predominantly in inks and oil paints. Lotty is inspired by the ephemeral, transient qualities of nature; the movement and energy that is created as the seasons change and the natural landscape around us metamorphoses. After expressionist artists such as Helen Frankenthaler, Lotty seeks to develop her process by infusing the theme Frankenthaler describes as ‘No Rules’, allowing for the process of creation to be spontaneous and unconstrained by social norms. This subsequently allows for wonderful unsolicited results to occur, stimulated by the raw emotion, energy and movement that is generated when creating expressive artwork. Spirituality and the self play a key part in Lotty’s work, being pivotal, particularly in her eyes, in the ephemeral connection the human soul has to nature and their continually transforming, intertwining relationship. The city, nature, emotional connections, and the ephemeral all play a part in the creation of Lotty’s work.
Lotty has recently studied at City and Guilds of London Art School after five years of being a Membership Manager and completing a degree in History of Art and Italian at The University of Manchester.
