Melle Nieling

Melle Nieling is a Dutch contemporary artist. Their work takes on a multitude of formats, ranging from large physical installations integrating video to single-page websites. Melle Nieling mimics corporate entities, established frameworks and everyday objects as a means to disarm their loaded symbolism. In their research they examine the processes at play in the attribution of value and the ways this shapes a sense of identity. By placing the audience in an environment where binaries (good/bad, real/virtual, etc.) are confused, Melle deliberately creates an unclear scenario that opens debates on societal norms and accepted views.
