“It feels like I’m using a completely different part of my brain when I’m making sculpture. Even with their modest sizes and lowly materials, the challenges are refreshing and humbling. But, also, somewhat ironically, I began to make connections between these new sculptures and the material properties of much older paintings and drawings from the 2000s. So, I decided to make a show that draws on and explores the commonalities and contrasts between mediums but also between two distinct stages of my work and life.”
